“Why do they make us do this?!” ponders Timothy, a distraught college graduate. “Every single day it’s the same thing and the same questions. I don’t know why I’m always an hour late Barbara! Quit asking!”
Timothy winces and checks the clock.
“Oh no, it’s only 3 PM. What am I supposed to do for the next two hours? How am I supposed to survive this torture for the next 40 years?!”
Timothy’s chat begins to flash as he has been sent a new message.
“What now?! Who taught these dinosaurs how to use a computer? Think about how much better off we’d all be if they were still hanging out in board rooms smoking themselves to an early death!”
Timothy shakes his head and begins coloring in his adult coloring book. Barbara walks over.
“Hey Timothy” Barbara says.
“Can’t you see I’m on my break Barbara?!” Timothy replies.
“Uh Yes Timothy, this is an open floor plan, everyone can see you are on another break. We can also all hear you and don’t appreciate you constantly referring to us as dinosaurs and hoping we die early deaths. Maybe some thoughts are better left unsaid.”
Barbara walks away.
Timothy shudders and turns to his phone. Timothy live streams all day, every day.
“Do you see what I’m dealing with?” Timothy asks his online audience of one. “How am I supposed to reach my full potential in an oppressive environment like this?!”
“Well sweetheart, maybe you should try to get along with your colleagues and see if there is anything that needs to be worked on. You’ve been coloring in those silly books all day.” Replies Timothy’s Mom, his longest and only subscriber.
“The whole world is against me!” Timothy exclaims. “Why couldn’t I have been born rich?!”
